The summer transfer window could be hugely significant for Arsenal, as Mikel Arteta will again look to build a side that can compete for the Premier League title.
With the gap to Liverpool currently six points, the chances of the Gunners winning the silverware this term are slim, and thus those within the hierarchy at the Emirates will already be looking ahead to what they can do over the summer to ensure there isn’t a gap next time around.
Arsenal have been told to sign a striker, while they also continue to be linked to a host of wide players.
Forward acquisitions will certainly be pivotal, although Arteta may need to reconstruct his squad across the board, with several departures expected to ensue.
Certain ageing players will need to be moved on to make way for younger talent, and it appears developments are beggining to materialise on this front.

Arsenal not expected to renew Thomas Partey’s contract
While strengthening Arteta’s attacking cohort will be the primary concern for Arsenal, changes to the midfield department are also expected.
One man whose contract is set to expire in June is Thomas Partey.
The Ghanaian has produced some impressive performances this campaign, starting 16 of the Gunners’ 20 Premier League matches so far, but is entering the latter stages of his career.
He’ll turn 32 in the summer, and is thus only likely to decline from here.
Reports have suggested that Partey may be offered a fresh deal at the Emirates, although the Daily Mail indicate that there are no plans to secure the player’s services beyond this season, and that he’ll ‘be removed’ from the squad.
Partey is said to be happy at Arsenal, and is understood to hold a potential interest in remaining in N5, but this isn’t expected to factor in the Gunners’ decision.
Earning a purported £200,000 a week, via Capology, his departure would free up over £10 million a year for Arteta to reinvest elsewhere.
Making almost 150 appearances in an Arsenal shirt since arriving at the club in 2020, Partey has largely delivered on the pitch, but his time in North London is looking increasingly likely to come to an end this summer.
Jorginho should follow Partey out the door
Similarly to Partey, Jorginho is at the tail-end of his prestigious career, and his contract is also set to expire in the summer.
The Italian has been a valuable asset to Arteta in the past two years, but has operated on the periphery of the Spaniard’s squad this season.
Jorginho is considering leaving Arsenal this month, and the club ought to consider sanctioning his departure.
| Partey and Jorginho Statistical Comparison 2024/25 (Premier League Only) | ||
| Stat | Partey | Jorginho |
| Appearances | 19 | 10 |
| Goals | 2 | 0 |
| Assists | 2 | 0 |
| Pass Accuracy | 88% | 86.2% |
| Progressive Passes Per 90 | 5.96 | 6.27 |
| Tackles and Interceptions Per 90 | 4.1 | 2.94 |
Starting just six league games this campaign, Arteta clearly doesn’t view the former Chelsea man as an integral member of his squad, and should take this opportunity to move on.
Partey and Jorginho’s likely exits will allow Arsenal to revamp their midfield, and add younger players in this area of the pitch, to support the likes of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.
