Thomas Partey is facing an uncertain future at Arsenal as his contract enters the final six months, creating doubt over a stay at the club.

The midfielder has been a regular feature in the team so far this season, featuring in the central ranks or at right-back when required.

Despite those appearances, Thomas Partey is set to be out of contract in the summer and faces the possibility of an exit from Arsenal.

Partey can now sign a pre-contract deal abroad, which means he could agree a move elsewhere from now until the end of the season.

With that uncertainty circling Mikel Arteta, talk continues to build over a possible transfer in the weeks ahead.

As links and rumours surround a potential transfer exit for Partey, there are growing doubts over whether he will sign a new contract at the club.

The midfielder is now 31 years old, entering the latter stages of his career, while there remain questions over his fitness.

While this season he has been able to play most games he is available for, he has regularly been an injury doubt in the past.

That leaves further questions over whether a deal would work, though there is an update on the player’s own thoughts.

According to Charles Watts, via CaughtOffside, Partey is currently happy at Arsenal, though plenty of his future will depend on his own decisions.

The journalist said: “I think a big part of what happens will revolve around Partey himself. He will probably get offers from abroad that will be far more lucrative and far longer than what he will be offered by Arsenal, should they even opt to offer him new terms.

“So that will leave him with a big decision to make as he gets towards the latter stages of his career.

“I know that Partey is happy at Arsenal, but that doesn’t mean he will stay if he gets a better offer elsewhere.”

It remains unclear exactly what the future holds for Partey, with his future at Arsenal hanging in the balance.

Arsenal must move on from Thomas Partey

With Partey’s deal coming towards an end, it would be the perfect time for Arsenal to move on and look for new opportunities in the market.

The midfielder has been a feature for the side this season, but he hasn’t always been a reliable presence in previous campaigns with his injury troubles.

With an age profile that should see a decline follow, Arsenal can’t rely on him for much longer in the near future if they want to be competitive.

Add his potential wage demands and interest elsewhere and it could be a chance to look for new midfield options ahead.

The Gunners have lacked a star who can receive the ball from the backline and bring it forward, something that should be the focus of the transfer window.

While a striker or winger could be a priority, a central midfield option to replace Partey and Jorginho would be the next best focus.
