Arsenal were handed the huge boost of Martin Odegaard’s return to action against Chelsea following his 53-day absence from the team.

Back in October, Odegaard suffered a knee injury and has missed nine Arsenal matches as he recovered from the setback.

Fortunately, Arsenal signed Eberechi Eze, who has been in fine form, whilst the Norwegian has been sidelined with a knee issue.

But now, the Gunners’ captain is back and available at the Emirates Stadium, with his return giving the whole club a huge lift.

Martin Odegaard’s return has given Arsenal a real buzz

Martin Odegaard’s return to action has made a ‘huge difference’ behind the scenes at Arsenal, with the captain extra motivated to fire the Gunners to glory.

Josh James, who is Arsenal’s reporter, says he can feel the buzz around the club following the 26-year-old’s return to the pitch.

Odegaard was given 33 minutes off the bench at Stamford Bridge, and following his introduction, the Gunners actually managed to find an equaliser through Mikel Merino.

Speaking about the captain, James told The Dispatch: “Martin Odegaard, he’s back on the pitch and back writing his programme notes, so I spoke to him this week.

How crucial is Martin Odegaard to Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes? Let us know in the comments…

“I can tell the difference when I speak to him, he’s doing his recovery, and when he’s back on the pitch, it makes a huge difference; he’s so glad to be back.”

Arsenal’s squad depth has improved so much this season, which has meant that despite their captain being out, Mikel Arteta’s team haven’t really missed him.

The likes of Leandro Trossard and Eze have stepped up in Odegaard’s place and helped fire Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League.

Eberechi Eze could actually keep Martin Odegaard out of the team at Arsenal

The only issue is that Eze could actually keep Odegaard out of the team at Arsenal, with the Gunners’ latest addition in fine form.

For the first time since joining Arsenal, Odegaard is no longer a guaranteed starter and must earn his place back.

The midfielder will be needed for rotation, but in the big matches and when everyone is fully fit, Eze could be the first-choice number ten now.

But for Arteta, it is a great dilemma to have, as in the past, injuries have ultimately been his team’s downfall in the title race.
