Arsenal made it three wins in a row in the Premier League when they managed to battle back from behind to overcome Brentford.

The Gunners were made to work hard at the Gtech Community Stadium, with transfer target Bryan Mbeumo giving the Bees an early lead.

Mikel Arteta inspired a comeback though, as Gabriel Jesus equalised with a sharp response to a loose ball to head home another goal for the in-form Brazilian.

That was built upon in the second half as Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli both struck to give Arsenal a deserved victory.

The action doesn’t stop there for the Gunners though, as next up they take on Brighton, with plenty of hope that they can pick up even more points in their pursuit of the Premier League title.

There is some mixed team news heading into the tie though, both good and bad for the side.

Gabriel Jesus avoids Premier League yellow card ban for Arsenal

Arsenal have some mixed news on the suspension front coming away from the Brentford game on Wednesday night.

Firstly, Jurrien Timber is suspended to face Brighton after the defender picked up his fifth yellow card of the season.

There will be some frustration as the defender could’ve avoided the ban if he managed to get through the remainder of the Brentford clash without a booking.

The yellow card suspension threshold of five cards increases to ten after the halfway stage of the season – 19 matches – which Arsenal hit after beating the Bees.

So while Timber is banned, there is some fortune in the fact that Gabriel Jesus managed to avoid a ban of his own.

The Brazilian striker was also on four bookings, with another one against Brentford set to leave him out of action against Brighton.

Fortunately, the in-form forward avoided such a fate, which gives Mikel Arteta a small boost in his squad selection for the coming match.

Arsenal forward dilemma amid illness issues

Having Jesus available to face Brighton comes as a huge boost for Arsenal, not least with their lack of forward depth at the moment.

With Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling injured, there are questions over the availability of Kai Havertz due to illness too.

As those issues stack up in the forward ranks, just one senior forward option was named on the substitutes bench against Brentford in Leandro Trossard.

It shows the problems that Arsenal currently have with their strength in depth, though Jesus avoiding a ban comes as a huge boost to their chances.
