Arsenal star Takehiro Tomiyasu has taken to social media to confirm he has undergone surgery for a knee issue he has been suffering from all season.

The defender has played just six minutes of action this season, with two separate knee problems keeping him sidelined.

The Japanese international is now set for a long spell on the sidelines while he recovers from the surgery.

Arsenal stance on Nico Williams transfer

Arsenal are still big admirers of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams ahead of the summer transfer window, Arsenal Insider understands.

The Spain international was heavily linked with a move over the past two windows, given the release clause in the region of £50million in his contract.

Arsenal Insider understands that the club are looking at signing a striker and a winger in the coming months to bolster their attacking ranks.

Williams is one possible option, with the star capable of playing on both flanks.

Marcus Rashford could help Arsenal in title race

Arsenal were linked with a move for Marcus Rashford in the January transfer window, with the star looking to leave Manchester United.

The Gunners decided against a possible switch for the forward, with him making the move to Aston Villa on loan instead.

While Rashford didn’t join Arsenal, he could give them a huge help in the Premier League title race in the days ahead.
