Arsenal are set for a busy summer transfer window both in and out the club as they look to rectify mistakes from this season.

Andrea Berta is set to become the club’s new sporting director and has already begun making plans on the current Arsenal squad with manager Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal stars will be in international action over the coming days but the likes of Ben White are among a number of Arsenal players not selected by their national teams.

Jorginho is another of those players not on duty having not been chosen by Italy in their latest squad and with his contract up in the summer at the Emirates Stadium, the midfielder may be using the time to sort his future now.

Jorginho’s agent has met with Flamengo and it now appears the Gunners midfielder has arrived in Rio himself amid links to the Brazilian club.

The Arsenal star has been pictured outside the airport in Rio and claims he is there ‘on vacation’ but did not rule out any transfer meetings during his stay.

Arsenal kept hold of Jorginho during the January transfer window despite interest from Brazil and several Italian clubs.

Now the midfielder is free to negotiate with any club he wishes given his contract situation and it appears that Jorginho is using the international break away from London to ponder his next career move.

Arsenal should target Bruno Guimaraes to replace Jorginho

Berta’s arrival won’t impact the future of Jorginho and the Gunners will need to be shrewd in the market to assess how to replace such an experienced player.

Arsenal may try to prize Bruno Guimaraes away from Newcastle but could face difficulty with the Brazilian international under a new contract at St James’s Park.

The midfielder recently helped to win Newcastle’s first domestic trophy in nearly 70 years and defeated Arsenal in the semi final along the way to triumphing in the Carabao Cup.

Guimaraes is strong in the tackle, can get about the pitch with a fantastic engine and then also has that South American flair when on the ball – Arteta would love him in North London.
