Arsenal star Ben White is one of the most underrated players in the squad, but many do regard him to be an excellent professional.

White has played through injury to help his Arsenal teammates out, with Mikel Arteta stating that White would “run through a brick wall for you,” after he came on as a substitute against Manchester City despite being unfit to start.

The 26-year-old is very reliable, both in performance levels as well as availability, having hardly missed a game in his three years at the club.

Despite this, White has had to defend himself against criticism after a narrative that he ‘hates’ football developed, which contributed to his exit from the England National Team.

However, former England star Ben Foster has now told the Arsenal defender that he deserves more credit for one thing he offers to Arteta’s side.

Ben Foster praises Ben White’s Arsenal availability

Speaking in an interview on Prime Sport, Foster asked White to describe himself, and he pointed out his best trait.

“Available. I think that’s probably my biggest [strength],” White stated.

“I think that’s overlooked you know. I think that’s overlooked in football in general, the players that are gonna be there for 95% of the games every season,” Foster replied.

“I’m always available, always training, when people get injured I’m there to step up or be able to step in when people can’t. I think maybe adapting to when stuff happens, the way I’ve learned through the ranks of the leagues has probably helped me.”

Despite this, White has revealed that behind the scenes, he is not the true professional many may think he is.

Ben White’s shock revelation over fitness methods

White has missed just nine games in three years, but even he believes that Arsenal may not see him as the most professional player.

“I don’t know. I think if you were to ask anyone at club who’s the most professional, it wouldn’t be me,” White replied when asked how he maintains his fitness.

“I wouldn’t go in the ice bath, I wouldn’t stretch, I don’t do none of that. I think it is because I just don’t get injured, just don’t pull muscles. I think it’s probably the fact that I’m not super quick, I’m not that powerful, so I can just kind of plod along.”

White has one of the best fitness records in the squad, and his manager and teammates clearly value his contributions highly.

Despite Jurrien Timber’s impressive form, White is still a key player in the Arsenal squad. He has often stepped up to deliver whilst his teammates struggle, which is a sign of a true professional.
