Arsenal striker sold for just £4m scores eight-minute hat-trick in clear transfer mistake message

As Arsenal continue to scramble in the transfer market to find a striker for the future, one former star is proving it was a mistake to let him leave.

The Gunners have been on the search for a centre-forward over the past couple of years, with no clear answer found.

Plenty of links have seen names such as Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak linked, while Arsenal have had a bid rejected for Ollie Watkins.

It leaves little time left to give Mikel Arteta the options he needs for the future, with the forward ranks a clear issue.

Arsenal could have had a star for the team though, thanks to the Hale End academy and the options available.

Ex-Arsenal star Mika Biereth impresses with Monaco hat-trick

With Arsenal struggling to find a striker in the market, former centre-forward Mika Biereth continues to impress after a January move.

The 21-year-old was sold by the Gunners for just £4million last summer to join Sturm Graz, but his impressive performances saw him move on quickly.

AS Monaco came calling over the January transfer window, with the permanent move made to Ligue 1.

In three appearances, Biereth has hit the ground running, scoring his first goal on his second appearance to open his account.

Fast forward one more game and he managed to add to that tally with an impressive eight-minute hat-trick.

With the striker impressing, it suggests the Gunners may have made a mistake letting him go in the summer.

What Edu Gaspar said about Mika Biereth transfer exit

With question marks now hanging over whether Arsenal should’ve let Biereth leave, it’s worth looking back at the decision made at the time.

The 21-year-old had some competition ahead of him in the pecking order, while it seemed clear an exit was on the cards.

Speaking to the club website after a confirmed move, Edu Gaspar said: “We are so proud of the progress Mika has made since joining us.

“This new opportunity with Sturm Graz is great for Mika, and it’s a good example of what a strong loan development plan produces.

“Mika will be playing Champions League football when the season starts again, which he deserves due to his mentality and performances in recent seasons.”

It was an opportunity he has clearly taken, while the exit may well be a clear mistake made by Arsenal in their own search for a striker.
