Paul Merson believes Jorginho should be dropped for the Man City game, highlighting that Arsenal will need energy and power in the middle of the park to overcome Pep Guardiola’s side.

Martin Odegaard is in line to start after missing the previous Premier League encounter with Wolves and has highlighted a flaw in his game that needs improving should Arsenal go on to win a trophy.

Martin Odegaard believes he hasn’t been good enough at scoring goals this season

Speaking to the Mirror, the Arsenal skipper has been brutally honest about his own form this season and has highlighted his lack of goals as his main worry.

Odegaard stated: “It’s been something that I haven’t been good enough with this season. I feel like I’ve been in enough situations and created a lot for others but I haven’t been clinical enough with the finishing.”

The Norwegian how vowed to improve his goal scoring form between now and the end of the season and believes it could be vital in securing his ‘dream’ of winning the Premier League with the club.

He stated: “I have been dreaming about this since I was a young kid – to win one of the big trophies and especially the Premier League was always something special growing up so this would be the biggest dream.”

Odegaard’s form is significantly worse than the previous two seasons

Odegaard missed a large chunk at the start of the season with an ankle injury picked up on international duty with Norway. Upon his return, Odegaard initially sparkled but has found his form has dropped since the beginning of December.

Arsenal fans were critical of Odegaard’s display against Girona and his lack of goal involvements has been a real concern amongst the supporters.

It is clear that Odegaard misses Bukayo Saka as the two combine to such effect on the right hand side but the Norwegian will want to increase his numbers as the Gunners push for some silverware this season.

He missed a vital penalty in the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United but no doubt the skipper will push that to the back of his mind and get back to his clinical best before the end of the campaign.
