Arsenal suffered a major injury scare vs Liverpool but nobody’s even talking about it

Arsenal had a very difficult game against Liverpool in the Premier League.

The two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night. The Gunners were the better side in the first half, but Liverpool controlled the game after the break.

Overall, it was an uneventful game. The biggest talking point was Gabriel Martinelli’s push on Conor Bradley late in the second half.

However, what nobody is talking about is a potential injury to Piero Hincapie.

Piero Hincapie may have suffered an injury during Arsenal vs Liverpool

Hincapie has proved to be a fantastic signing for Arsenal.

The Ecuador international was brought in on transfer deadline day on a season-long loan deal from Bayer Leverkusen, and his arrival was questioned.

Many people, including the Arsenal board, didn’t think they needed him, but Andrea Berta personally convinced the decision makers to sign Hincapie.

That was a fine decision as the South American has played a key role at left-back and left-centre-half amid all the injuries Arsenal have suffered.

Now, the 24-year-old may have suffered an injury of his own.

Hincapie went down after what appeared to be a hamstring injury against Liverpool. He was replaced by Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Football London now claim that the defender is set to undergo scans, and there are fears that he has suffered a hamstring injury.

The medical staff at Arsenal are more concerned because Hincapie had to complete a sprint after complaining about tightness. That could’ve made his issue worse.

Arsenal should be very worried about Piero Hincapie’s injury

The hope is that Hincapie’s hamstring issue is just tightness and he will be back in action after some rest.

However, the Gunners have been very unlucky with hamstring issues. They have lost the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Magalhaes and Kai Havertz for a long time due to the same injury over the last year.

If Hincapie’s injury rules him out for a few games, Arsenal could struggle because Lewis-Skelly is not in the best form right now.

Furthermore, Riccardo Calafiori is still injured, and it is unclear when he will be back in contention to start.

It will be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta will turn to Jurrien Timber to move to the opposite side if Hincapie and Calafiori are both ruled out of the Carabao Cup semi-final next week.
