One of Arsenal’s new signings carried a growing Premier League rivalry into the international break.
It will be music to Mikel Arteta’s ears that the Arsenal players on September international duty avoided injury.
The action concluded when the Gunners’ South American stars battled in their respective World Cup Qualifying matches.
Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli did not play when Brazil suffered defeat against Bolivia, while Piero Hincapie played 90 minutes for Ecuador against Argentina.

Piero Hincapie clashes with Alexis MacAllister in Ecuador vs Argentina
The international break has delayed Arsenal from properly welcoming Hincapie to the squad, who was signed on deadline day on an initial loan from Bayer Leverkusen.
Hincapie is destined to succeed at Arsenal, with the Gunners eager to sign the Ecuadorian at the end of the season for around £45m.
So far, the only glimpse fans have had of the new defender is on international duty, where he’s impressed for his country.
Against Paraguay, Hincapie kept a clean sheet while playing at left-back, and did the same when the World Champions headed to Ecuador.
It wasn’t only the Arsenal defender’s performance against Argentina that drew attention, but also a squabble he had with Liverpool midfielder Alexis MacAllister.
During the contest, MacAllister was visibly seething with Hincapie after he flew into a challenge on Franco Mastantuono.
The Liverpool star was shouting aggressively in the Arsenal man’s face, a dispute that the Ecuadorian dismissed by remaining calm.
Hincapie missed Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool before the international break, but might have something to say to MacAllister when the two sides meet again in January.

Hincapie’s stats against Argentina
Unfortunately for MacAllister, his frustrations would’ve carried over into the dressing room, as Ecuador beat Argentina 1-0.
It was a night to forget for the World Champions, but one to savour for Ecuador, whose tremendous streak of defensive success continues.

Hincapie was at the heart of it, recording seven defensive actions during the match, thriving on the left side.
The break has been a positive one for the South American, who will now return to North London to commence his career at Arsenal, starting with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
