Arsenal expert Charles Watts has shared what he has heard about Piero Hincapie from people who “have seen a lot of him”.
Piero Hincapie was the cherry on top of a superb transfer window for Arsenal in which they spent in excess of £250million on new signings.
Hincapie became Arsenal’s final signing of the summer, joining from Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
The Gunners have agreed a fee of £45million for the Ecuador international should they want to sign him permanently next summer.
Charles Watts spoke about Hincapie on his YouTube channel and admitted he’s looking forward to seeing the 23-year-old in red and white.

Piero Hincapie receives resounding verdict
Watts said that he has spoken to people who are familiar with Hincapie’s game, and the verdict is very positive indeed.
“He’s Arsenal’s new number five and he adds huge amounts of strength to an embarrassment of riches for the defence that Arsenal currently have,” said Watts.
“From speaking to people who have seen a lot of him, they really, really rate him. They think he’s going to be a really good signing.”
Watts continued: “Physically very imposing, loves the challenge, quality on the ball, can get forward, left-back if he plays in that position as well.
“He is just going to add an awful lot of strength in depth to, as I said, an area of the pitch where Arsenal are absolutely laden with quality and strength.”

Piero Hincapie’s best position on the pitch
Hincapie is a versatile defender capable of playing as both a centre-back and a left-back, similar to Riccardo Calafiori.
Speaking to the Arsenal media team after being unveiled as a new Gunners player, Hincapie said he believes his best position is at centre-back.
“Obviously, I’ve played many games at full-back as well, but I think I’m best at centre-back,” he said.
“As for my qualities, I’m pacey, and I like carrying the ball forward as well as being a leader on the pitch.”
At just 23 years of age, Hincapie has already clocked up 166 outings for Leverkusen along with 46 caps for Ecuador.
His experience, talent and high ceiling make him a very exciting player indeed, and it’ll be great to see how he gets on at N5.
