Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko will love what Norway’s media just said about Martin Odegaard vs Estonia

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard was in action for Norway as Stale Solbakken’s side continued their impressive form.

It’s now six wins in a row for Norway, who took another step closer to World Cup qualification against Estonia.

Erling Haaland scored the only goal of the contest, which was no surprise, on a night that Norway churned out a win despite a rather disappointing display.

Odegaard was at the forefront of the win as the Arsenal captain combined with the Manchester City talisman to break the deadlock, seeing the midfielder triumph once again for his country.

Norway react to Martin Odegaard’s performance vs Estonia

Mikel Arteta might get a little nervous when his captain is on international duty, as Odegaard was injured badly during the September break of 2024. 

This impacted the playmaker’s season with Arsenal, as Odegaard struggled to maintain consistency throughout the campaign. 

The 2025/26 calendar will be integral for the 26-year-old, who will be desperate to get his international and domestic form to match.

Odegaard impressed when Norway beat Italy 3-0, a result that led to Luciano Spalletti being sacked, and against Estonia, the Arsenal star earned similarly impressive reviews. 

Norwegian media outlets shared their verdict on the Gunners skipper’s performance, starting with TV2, who gave him a 7/10 match rating. 

Dagbladet were complimentary of Odegaard’s combination with Haaland, who scored his 42nd goal in his 43rd game for Norway. 

“Owned the ball for parts of the game. Stormed up with Haaland ahead of the 1-0 goal and made a perfect pass.”

‘Norway’s creative power’, is how VG described Odegaard’s display, who, while praising the midfielder, commented on some frustration he showed. 

“As always, Norway’s creative power. The pass through to Nusa after twenty minutes is a highlight. The biggest highlight, however, is the counterattack where he plays through Haaland to 1-0.

“Gets free in the space several times, but is stopped several times with illegal means. Eventually gets frustrated with the Serbian referee for the lack of free kicks and yellow cards to his Estonian assistants.” 

Benjamin Sesko would’ve loved Odegaard’s performance 

Norway’s media shared an identical view of the Arsenal captain’s game, lauding Odegaard’s creative strengths to give his side, and particularly Haaland, the edge to win the game.

Haaland will be overjoyed to have the chance to link up with Arteta’s prized playmaker, and he’s not the only one who might have paid attention to the 26-year-old’s performance.

Arsenal are working on signing Benjamin Sesko, who will surely be licking his lips from afar at the idea of forming a connection with Odegaard.

Considering that Sesko has been likened to Haaland, as he told the Bundesliga’s official website, the striker will pay extra attention to how the Arsenal star links up with a player of his profile. 

Odegaard handed Haaland the tools to make a difference, something that could be replicated at the Emirates if the Gunners are able to strike a deal with RB Leipzig for Sesko.

The idea of the former Real Madrid technician finally having a top-quality striker to fuse with in North London is a dream for Arsenal fans, who will ponder if Sesko is that man.
