Per Mertesacker and everyone else involved in the Arsenal academy deserve immense praise for the work they are doing with our youngsters.

The likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe were produced by Hale End, and they are both superstars now, but there are many more coming through the ranks.

We’ve talked plenty about Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri over the last few months, but there’s one player who’s younger than them that’s making a lot of noise now.

15-year-old Chidozie Obi-Martin caught many people’s eye last month when he was compared to Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen.

Now, he has taken his reputation to a whole new level by scoring 10 goals in a single game. He tormented Liverpool‘s U16s today to help our young Gunners pick up a 14-3 win.

Keep an eye on young Obi-Martin – he’s going to be a superstar.

Ian Wright thinks Obi-Martin is really quick

Even though Chido Obi-Martin is only 15, he has already played for Arsenal’s U18s and U21s this season, which is a remarkable achievement.

The teenager is huge for his age and also very quick. He is a fine talent and has even caught the eye of Arsenal legend Ian Wright, who knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a great striker.

He said recently: “Chido Obi-Martin, he’s 15, honestly, he’s like 6 foot 2, he looks really quick.”

Wright said this after Obi-Martin’s debut for the U21s in a 6-3 win over Brighton last month. The youngster wasn’t amazing in that game, but a 15-year-old playing at that level is extraordinary.

He will get much better in the coming weeks and months.
