Kepa Arrizabalaga confirms Arsenal transfer early with Chelsea farewell message
Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga as one of their first transfer additions of the summer.
The Gunners have been on the hunt for a new goalkeeper over the past year or so, following on from Aaron Ramsdale’s exit.
While David Raya has been the number-one option for the past two years, the competition behind him has been revolving.
Now, Arsenal finally have a permanent option to compete in goal with the Spaniard, with fellow countryman Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The goalkeeper is awaiting confirmation over his move; however, he has seemingly leaked it early with a farewell message to Chelsea fans on social media.
Taking to Instagram, he said: “THANK YOU, CHELSEA.
“After seven unforgettable years, the time has come to close a very special chapter in my life. Chelsea was my home, my family, and the place where I grew both as a footballer and as a person.
“I arrived full of dreams and I leave with unforgettable memories: titles like the Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup… but above all, moments shared with incredible people on and off the pitch.
“Thank you to the coaches, the staff, my teammates, and most of all, to you, the fans. Wearing this badge has been an honour and a source of pride.
“Now a new chapter begins, and I face it with the same passion and commitment as always. I leave with a heart full of gratitude.
“With love and respect, Kepa Arrizabalaga.”
It’s an early confirmation of the move, with just Arsenal waiting to confirm the deal from their end.

Kepa Arrizabalaga isn’t the only one expected to start with Arsenal in pre-season next week, when the players return to training.
Joining him is Martin Zubimendi, who is set to join Arsenal in a £51 million move from Real Sociedad.
Christian Norgaard is closing in on a switch to Arsenal as well, with that move ramping up over the past week or so.
Beyond him, discussions continue for the likes of Cristhian Mosquera, Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke and more, as deals are being lined up everywhere.
