Arsenal are set to switch their focus back to cup action in midweek as they take on League One outfit Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup.

The Gunners are fresh from a difficult week that saw them face Tottenham in the North London Derby, Atalanta in the Champions League before travelling to Manchester City in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta may be relatively pleased with the returns he got from those matches, remaining unbeaten and firmly competitive across all fronts.

However, the Arsenal boss has a different challenge in the shape of Bolton on Wednesday night, with plenty of dilemmas over his team.

There are questions over whether the side at the Emirates Stadium should feature some rotation, with plenty of academy prospects ready to step in.

So with that said, here’s a look at everything you need to know about Arsenal’s clash with Bolton in the Carabao Cup third round.

Arsenal will host Bolton at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, September 25, with both teams looking to make it to the fourth round.

While this used to be a regular Premier League fixture, the two teams haven’t faced off since 2012, when the match ended 0-0.

Under Ian Evatt, Bolton have won promotion from League Two and went close to returning to the Championship, while playing a possession-based style of play that isn’t too common in the lower leagues.

Arsenal team news and injuries

After an intense fixture schedule, Arteta could well rotate his side to ensure some of his key players are rested.

Some of those could be enforced, with Leandro Trossard set to miss out through suspension following his red card against Manchester City.

It was revealed that Ben White played the second half against Man City with an injury, making him a doubt, while David Raya was seen limping after the draw.

Experienced goalkeeper Neto is cup-tied, meaning that he won’t be able to feature, potentially relying on youngster Tommy Setford for the clash.

When is the Carabao Cup fourth-round draw?

If Arsenal make their way past Bolton, they will learn their opponents for the fourth round just after their match.

The draw will take place on Wednesday, September 25, with a live draw conducted on Sky Sports after Liverpool’s clash with West Ham.
