Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had an eye for talent, but that ability may come back to haunt the side when they take on West Ham United.

The Gunners have a mixed record against the Hammers as of late, something they will look to turn in their favour on Saturday.

While a former player in Konstantinos Mavropanos could haunt Arsenal, he isn’t the only one looking to cause some damage to his old team’s Premier League title chances.

Mikel Arteta’s side could be hampered by another West Ham star who used to ply his trade at the Emirates Stadium too.

Lukasz Fabianski could impact former club Arsenal

Yet another familiar face taking on Arsenal is Lukasz Fabianski, the West Ham goalkeeper who was once on the red side of London.

The Poland international joined the Gunners back in 2007 from Legia Warsaw, aged just 22 and viewed as a promising option.

Arsene Wenger looked to make use of the young goalkeeper, but he eventually left to join Swansea on a free transfer in 2014 after seven years at Arsenal.

Fabianski spent four years there before joining West Ham in 2018, where he has been in and out of the team since.

Aged 39, the goalkeeper has worked his way back into the team after starting the last four Premier League games for the Hammers.

Should he have an impressive display, his saves may be enough to actually cost Arsenal at the end of the season in the title race.

Lukasz Fabianski’s Arsenal career stats

While it has been over ten years since Fabianski was at Arsenal, there are still some decent memories of the shot-stopper at the club.

The experienced star made over 75 appearances for the club, keeping 26 clean sheets in the opportunities he was handed.

His shorter spells at Swansea and West Ham have seen Fabianski eclipse those matches at both clubs, making Arsenal his third-most represented club.

Fabianski is set to turn 40 before the end of the season and it’s unclear exactly what the future holds for him, but he’s showing little sign of slowing up.

Whether the end of the season will see Arsenal lift the Premier League remains to be seen and could be determined by his performance on Saturday.
