Arsenal have a number of exceptional players in their squad.

Mikel Arteta has had to work really hard to build a side capable of going toe-to-toe with any team in the world, and he has done a great job so far.

One of the common themes among several Arsenal players is their versatility. There are many in the squad who can play in multiple positions.

Now, a versatile Arsenal star has claimed that he will produce big numbers if he gets opportunities in a position that he has never played in before.

Jurrien Timber says he will score 15 goals and provide 15 assists in one position at Arsenal

Arsenal signed Jurrien Timber for £34 million from Ajax in the summer of 2023.

The Dutchman quickly became a fan favourite at the club after a few stunning performances in pre-season. He was excellent in the Community Shield win against Manchester City too.

Sadly, Timber suffered a serious knee injury on his Premier League debut, and that kept him out for almost the whole season.

The 24-year-old is fully fit now, and he has been brilliant this term. His performances in both full-back positions have been very impressive.

In a video on Arsenal’s social channels, Timber, who can play anywhere across the backline and also in midfield, was asked if there is one position on the pitch he would like to play in if given a chance.

The defender revealed his answer and then made a bold claim about the numbers he would produce if Arteta gives him an opportunity there.

“Striker,” he replied. When asked how many goals he would score, he said: “In the season? 15 goals, 15 assists!”

Timber has a crazy few months coming up

When Timber was out for almost all of last season, Ben White played over 50 games at right-back. The England international was brilliant.

Now, the former Brighton man has suffered an injury, and Arsenal doctors think White will be out for three months following his surgery.

With Takehiro Tomiyasu also out injured, Timber is the only senior right-back available at Arteta’s disposal, and he will have to play almost every game for the next three months.

That will not be easy at all, but Arsenal don’t have too many options – at least not until the January transfer window opens.
