Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard has had a disastrous start to the season, but he still earned a starting spot for the Belgium National Team.
Belgium were facing Italy in the Nations League, and fell to a 1-0 defeat courtesy of a Sandro Tonali goal.
It was a fairly poor display for Dominic Tedesco’s side, but he selected Trossard from the start, and the Arsenal attacker played the entire game.
Trossard has come under a lot of scrutiny after a string of poor displays, with the 29-year-old missing a glorious chance in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea. However, he performed well despite Belgium’s defeat.

Trossard started in midfield for Belgium against Italy despite his poor recent form, but he looked a lot livelier and created chances for his teammates including Romelu Lukaku.
Belgium fans have taken to X to praise Trossard, and some questioned why his performance levels differed so vastly to what he has produced for Arsenal recently.
“I criticized Trossard a lot but he is the best Belgian attacker tonight. he could have scored a goal and maybe 2 assists if the 2 in front of him were real attackers,” one Belgium fan posted.
“Trossard is the best attacker this evening and by far (the face of the competition, it is true) but when it is good, it must be said!” Another added.
“Belgium are pressing hard in search of an equaliser. They are finding Leandro Trossard in 3/4 areas and causing damage,” another posted during the game.
“Trossard could’ve easily had 3 assists for Belgium tonight,” a Belgium fan claimed.
Some Arsenal fans were surprised at his impressive display, but were encouraged that it could lead to improved form after the international break.
“I wish Trossard could score by far the best player for Belgium today,” an Arsenal fan posted.
“Trossard has been brilliant for Belgium in this game. He only forgets how to pass the ball when he’s playing for Arsenal,” another pointed out.
“Is it Arteta or Trossard to blame cos Tross is balling for Belgium,” a fan questioned.

Trossard entered the break having endured over a month of struggles for Arsenal. The 29-year-old had been starting in Martin Odegaard’s absence, but he was heavily criticised for failing to make an impact in midfield.
He was finally dropped to the bench for Arsenal’s trip to face Chelsea, and he came on in the second half but Trossard missed a huge chance to win the game at the end.
Trossard’s form has been so inconsistent that some have even questioned whether he should be sold, but he will hope that his encouraging display, which saw him create three chances and fire in three shots, can help him regain his confidence.
