Arsenal’s ex-players are beginning to pick up managerial roles across football.

Arsene Wenger’s influence on the club is becoming clear as Mikel Arteta is now joined by a host of former team mates in the managerial world.

Jack Wilshere received bad news as Norwich informed him that he would not be considered for the job on a permanent basis after staying unbeaten in the two games he took charge of.

One of those games for Wilshere was beating Aaron Ramsey’s Cardiff City 4-2 on the final day of the Championship season and now former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas is being chased by a top Champions League club.

Cesc Fabregas linked with vacant Bayer Leverkusen managerial role

Xabi Alonso has announced his departure from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and is expected to replace Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid manager.

Alonso has been dealt a transfer blow as Martin Zubimendi’s arrival at Arsenal was confirmed by journalist Fabrizio Romano as Alonso wanted the Spaniard to join him in Madrid.

As per Calciomercato, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Fabregas is a strong candidate for the vacant job at Leverkusen, who are set to be involved in the Champions League once again next season.

Officials at Leverkusen are said to be impressed by Como’s ‘excellent’ season under Fabregas and the former Gunners midfielder is under consideration for the managerial role.

Theo Walcott backs Cesc Fabregas to replace Mikel Arteta

As per TBR Football, Theo Walcott believes that Fabregas could also be a contender to replace Arteta after his Arsenal reign comes to an end.

Walcott stated: “Obviously Cesc Fabregas was one of his [Arsene Wenger] main players that he developed into the person to play and obviously he’s now having actually pretty doing pretty well for Como.

“It’s actually in this moment in time obviously brought him up. So I can see him being Arsenal manager at some point. So yeah, Arsene Wenger, I learned a lot from him.”

Should Fabregas take the job at Bayer Leverkusen he would be reunited with former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka.

If Fabregas is successful at Leverkusen, his managerial reputation would grow and the hierarchy at the Gunners would be on alert for the future.
