Clinton Morrison reckons Eberechi Eze could start in a different position for Arsenal vs Liverpool on Sunday

Eberechi Eze could be in line for his Arsenal debut this weekend, as the Gunners prepare for a huge Premier League clash with rivals Liverpool.

It’s been a relatively ideal start for Mikel Arteta so far, having picked up two wins from the opening two matches.

A victory away at Manchester United was followed by the thrashing of Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal will be hopeful of maintaining that 100% record when they come up against Premier League title rivals Liverpool next up.

There are some injury concerns for the Arsenal boss to consider, though, with Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard facing potential absences after picking up issues last time out.

That could pave the way for Eberechi Eze to make his debut for the club, but it may be in a slightly different position than expected.

Clinton Morrison backs Eberechi Eze to play on the left for Arsenal against Liverpool

With Eze completing his transfer to Arsenal, it’s straight to business for the forward as he looks to make an impact on the pitch.

Going to Anfield for a debut could be one of the more daunting experiences, but it will set the stage for something special.

With Eze able to take that number ten slot straight away, due to doubts over Martin Odegaard’s fitness, there is a clear way into the team.

However, Clinton Morrison believes he should play elsewhere instead, as he said on BBC Sport’s FPL Podcast: “Yah, that’s what everyone thinks [Eze will start]. And that’s the only reason, because Mikel Arteta will rotate that front line.

“I think with Saka being injured now, I do actually think probably Madueke will go over to the right, and Eze will probably start on the left.

“So I think in these next few weeks and games he’s playing in, he will get game opportunities.”

It could be an opportunity for Eze to shine on the left, even if he is used to taking up more central spaces in the game.

Liverpool’s full-back approach could help Eberechi Eze with Arsenal debut

If Eze does start on the left, then the tactical approach from Liverpool could help him get off to an ideal start.

Under Arne Slot so far this season, the Reds have been extremely open at both ends, scoring plenty but conceding quite a few along the way.

One particular tweak that has been seen surrounds how high the full-backs get during periods of pressure on the opposition.

This has often left just Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate to defend transition opportunities, which they haven’t looked particularly comfortable doing.

With Eze’s dribbling ability and the space down the flanks to attack the opposition, it may be an ideal combination for a dream debut.
