Arsenal’s approach to this summer’s transfer market has shaken things up, catching many rivals by surprise.
In the past, the Gunners have often made their moves around what the market itself is doing, but this time, they are the ones dictating things.
Andrea Berta has made several big signings, the latest of which has seen Arsenal land Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.
The forward was snatched away from rivals Tottenham at the last minute, displaying the sort of pull the club can have.
It’s not just Spurs who have had their feathers ruffled by Arsenal, but Manchester City too, who are seemingly worried about the business conducted so far.

Manchester City looking at transfers again after Arsenal concern
Arsenal’s transfer spend this summer sits around the £250 million mark, which is already an impressive milestone.
That could reach further, as Arsenal are interested in Piero Hincapie, a deal that could take them over £300 million spent.
It’s a huge amount pushed into the budget, largely looking at bolstering the squad quality as a whole.
While it’s improved the Gunners, it will also impact their rivals, as Manchester City are seemingly left worried by the business.
Transfer expert Dean Jones said on the Ranks FC podcast: “Man City feel under pressure by what Arsenal have actually done in this transfer window.
“They’ve been pushed to consider signings that they didn’t really want to have to make in these final days of the transfer window because of what Arsenal have done and because of what Liverpool have done so far.”
It shows how impressive Arsenal’s work has been so far in the market, even before one or two more arrivals.
That could force Man City into an awkward position, one that could be costly if they don’t get the transfer decisions correct.

Arsenal and Manchester City’s business compared
While Arsenal seem to be on the verge of achieving something fantastic, their rivals are in somewhat of a transition.
Manchester City fell flat last season, with Pep Guardiola entering the market in January and now this summer to improve their options.
| Arsenal | Man City |
|---|---|
| Martin Zubimendi | Tijani Reijnders |
| Viktor Gyokeres | Rayan Cherki |
| Eberechi Eze | Rayan Ait-Nouri |
| Noni Madueke | James Trafford |
| Cristhian Mosquera | Sverre Nypan |
| Christian Norgaard | Marcus Bettinelli |
| Kepa Arrizabalaga |
Man City have looked to bring the age of their squad down, looking to the next few years rather than competing here and now.
As a result, the moves from Arsenal look better, pushing to give themselves every chance possible in the coming season with the squad available.
It shows the gap between the two teams now, but things may play out differently on the pitch.
