Arsenal’s wait to get the new Premier League campaign underway is almost upon them.
Mikel Arteta’s side will be itching to get the campaign started and begin to right the wrongs of last season’s disappointing campaign.
Andrea Berta has brought in six reinforcements over the summer to boost the depth of the Gunners’ squad and Paul Merson has backed Arsenal to win the league.
However, not every pundit agrees with Merson and one in particular believes two Arsenal players will actually get worse under the Spanish boss this season.

David James thinks Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres will get worse at Arsenal this season
Speaking to Stan Sport, former Premier League goalkeeper David James has expressed his belief that Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi will lose their ‘edge’ by playing under Arteta this season.
Gyokeres is already learning from Arteta in training but James believes that the new signings might be coached too much into the Arsenal system next campaign.
James stated: “What I’ve noticed is that teams seem to prefer the signings for their own the teams they support, don’t they?

“Yeah, I think with Arsenal. Yeah. What I find interesting with Arsenal is how much of that individual brilliance will be seen under Mikel Arteta’s coaching because quite often they fall into the Arsenal system.
“I think you lose a bit of the edge of perhaps what you’ve brought in and whether or not he can deliver or maybe Mikel Arteta will do something different.”
Arteta likes to control possession in games and the Gunners have lost a bit of their creative spark in recent seasons.
However, three consecutive second place finishes prove that his system is working and it is only a matter of time before the club enjoy some success.
Mikel Arteta relishing the pressure of winning the Premier League for Arsenal
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Manchester United, Arteta has revealed that he is confident success is just around the corner for his side.
Arteta stated: “You keep digging, digging, digging. You have to keep digging because one day, the gold is going to be there. That’s all the time, what I’ve been taught, I’ve been educated and that’s it.
For three seasons, we have more points than any other team in this league. It’s incredible, that’s why we have all the consistency. Now we have to do it in a season, to earn one more point or the same amount of points and more goals difference than any other team. That’s the objective.”

Arteta is under pressure to deliver a trophy this season and the Gunners face a tough start to the campaign in their opening fixtures.
Players such as Bukayo Saka and William Saliba will be vital to any success for the side this season and both players have improved dramatically under Arteta’s coaching.
Gyokeres and Zubimendi may have to adapt their games in North London, however, that is not necessarily a negative thing for the duo.
