Arsenal have come a long way from having to sell their best players under Arsene Wenger.
Wenger had no choice but to allow the likes of Robin Van Persie and Cesc Fabregas depart the club during his reign as the Gunners were still paying for the cost of their new Emirates Stadium.
Now, thanks to Wenger’s hard work and vision, the club is in a much better financial situation and Arsenal have a £200m budget in order to improve the squad.
Andrea Berta has made contact with Benjamin Sesko and is negotiating with RB Leipzig over a deal for the striker. Arsenal know exactly what they require this summer but getting their targets may not be all good news for Mikel Arteta.

Andrea Berta set for £200m record Arsenal transfer window
A striker is not the only position that the Gunners need to strengthen this transfer window and it is expected that they will break the club’s record in terms of spending within one window.
That currently is the summer window of 2023, where Arsenal splashed £105m on record signing Declan Rice, alongside Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber.
| Arsenal’s three biggest Summer window | Amount spent |
| 2023 | £199.3m |
| 2021 | £141.9m |
| 2019 | £136.3m |
Arteta’s dream signing is Nico Williams and the Spanish winger is expected to cost around £50m if he can be lured to North London.
Thomas Partey’s contract talks are still ongoing and whilst Martin Zubimendi is expected to arrive next month, another central midfielder will be needed should the Ghanaian decide his future is elsewhere.
Furthermore, Arsenal are interested in Marc Guehi as another defender is on Arteta’s list, alongside the capture of back-up goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
A record transfer window piles pressure on Mikel Arteta to win a trophy
Stan Kroenke was ‘modest’ in his spending last summer with just over £100m splashed out on the permanent signature of David Raya, alongside Mikel Merino and Riccardo Calafiori.
Should Arsenal break their transfer record, it would pile huge pressure on Arteta to deliver a major trophy for the first time since their FA Cup triumph in 2020.

Supporters are desperate to see their side get over the line in the Premier League title race, or better still, clinch the club’s maiden Champions League trophy.
If £200m is splashed on the squad this summer, Arteta will be expected to deliver one of those things or his future at the club could come under intense scrutiny.
