Max Dowman has an admirer in Declan Rice, who was blown away by what the teenager did against Newcastle United.

Arsenal beat Newcastle 3-2 in their final clash in Singapore before moving on to Hong Kong. 

The Gunners have enjoyed an unbeaten start to their pre-season tour of Asia, beating AC Milan and then the Magpies.

Testing the squad against Premier League opposition is integral for Mikel Arteta ahead of the new season, particularly as many new faces have joined the first team in Singapore. 

Dowman was a talking point against Newcastle, getting first-team minutes for the second consecutive game at the age of just 15.

Already playing way beyond his years in Arsenal’s academy, there have been comparisons made between Dowman and Lamine Yamal. 

After seeing what the teenager produced against Newcastle, such praise is not actually too far-fetched.

It was a statement in itself for Arteta to introduce Dowman with 30 minutes remaining against Premier League opposition as physical and well-oiled as Newcastle, giving the teen a platform to impress. 

Impress is exactly what the Hale End product did, and it’s fair to say that his teammates were left in awe.

“What a night!” Dowman wrote on Instagram after the win in Singapore, which saw Declan Rice respond in the comments. 

The Arsenal midfielder said what everyone is thinking when it comes to Dowman, saying, “15 you know.”

Jurrien Timber joined the praise for the budding talent, writing, “Some playa” under the Instagram post.

Dowman was unplayable against Newcastle

Rice’s comment communicated what all Arsenal fans were thinking after seeing Dowman’s performance against Newcastle.

From duelling with Joelinton to winning a penalty, the 15-year-old didn’t shy away from the spotlight, as his numbers from the contest reveal.

Firing two shots on target and completing two dribbles, Dowman made his presence known, but perhaps the most impressive element of his display was his duel-winning.

The 2009-born star won six ground duels against the Magpies, who are well-known for their physicality, as well as winning three fouls.

Dowman’s numbers provided proof of how Newcastle just couldn’t live with the teen when he was introduced, which, at just 15, is incredibly good news for the future of Arsenal.
