Declan Rice has praised Ben White after the Arsenal defender signed a new long-term contract with the Gunners.

The north London club announced today that White has put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep the defender at Arsenal until 2028, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that there is an option to extend this contract by an extra year.

White has established himself in the last three seasons as one of Arsenal’s most important players and a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s system, with the 26-year-old defender the main right-back at the club.

And speaking in Arsenal’s official announcement video for White’s new contract, Rice, along with other teammates, was full of praise for White as a player both on and off the pitch.

The England international is easily one of the most beloved Arsenal figures both amongst players and fans, with the defender’s lax attitude making him a cult hero at the Emirates Stadium.

And the players seem to agree with the fans, with Rice clearly a huge fan of White’s talents having now spent the majority of the season playing alongside his England counterpart for his new team.

Rice said about White: “I can’t really explain him. He’s an unbelievable footballer, always smiling, I’m sure all the lads, the manager, the fans, are going to be so happy.”

White has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers in recent years, with the defender showing that he can evolve when needed and thrive wherever Arteta sees fit.

And the defender signing a new contract could be the best bit of business the north London side have done, on par at least with tying up Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba to long-term deals.

Indeed, White can grow more as a player in this Arsenal squad, and the decision to award the defender with a new deal is a testament to how crucial the 26-year-old is to the Gunners in the long-term.
