Nine months after leaving Arsenal, Eddie Nketiah added to his silverware collection as Crystal Palace won the FA Cup.

It’s been a difficult first season at Palace for Nketiah, but the former Hale End star’s struggles became worth it as the Eagles lifted the FA Cup.

Oliver Glasner’s side beat Manchester City 1-0 at Wembley to win the trophy, as Arsenal target Eberechi Eze scored the match-winner in the first half.

It was a joyous day for Arsenal’s London rivals and two former players, as Nketiah and Matt Turner collected medals.

Arsenal players react as Eddie Nketiah wins the FA Cup with Crystal Palace

Nketiah has endured a low-scoring debut season since leaving Arsenal to join Palace for £30m late in the summer transfer window.

Fortunately, the 25-year-old’s campaign at Palace will end on a high, as the striker collected his second FA Cup medal, following on from his 2020 win with the Gunners.

To mark the occasion, Nketiah took to social media to share a series of images from Palace’s historic day at Wembley, captioning his post with the following message.

“FA Cup champions! What a night, all glory to God!”

As expected, the comment section was flooded with well-wishes from a host of star names, including some of Nketiah’s former Arsenal teammates.

Declan Rice commented, “Congrats brother”, as Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber also applauded the Englishman’s success.

Some former Arsenal academy players who grew alongside Nketiah at Hale End also wished the striker well.

“My boy,” Joe Willock said, as Chuba Akpom, Khayon Edwards, Jordi Osei-Tutu and Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson sent their congratulations to Palace’s number nine.

Nketiah gives nod to Arsenal FA Cup win during Crystal Palace celebrations

As mentioned, Nketiah now has two FA Cups to his name, as the academy graduate came off the bench during Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Chelsea in 2020.

Just like in 2020, Nketiah was called from the bench to contribute to Palace’s win at Wembley, as Glasner handed the former Gunner 12 minutes on the pitch in the cup final.

After the win, the England international gave a nod to his FA Cup win under Mikel Arteta, as he shared an image on his Instagram story of himself holding the trophy in both Palace and Arsenal colours.

Nketiah captioned the photo ‘double’, reminiscing on his win at Wembley with his boyhood club five years ago.

It was heartwarming to see the striker enjoy the celebrations with Palace on the back of what has been a difficult first season with the Eagles.
