The former Premier League winner feels the Swede has the attributes to be a top striker, but now he needs more goals to boost his confidence.
Gyokeres, who is very popular at Arsenal, is showing strong signs of improvement at the Emirates Stadium, especially after his latest two goals.
When he was asked whether he considers Gyokeres ‘world-class’, Berbatov told ESPN FC: “Not yet, unfortunately.
“Although he has other attributes for a striker, for a centre forward. But again, guys, it comes down to the confidence of a striker. The confidence comes when you score goals. That’s it, ugly goals, beautiful goals.

“You don’t care as long as the ball is in the back of the net. I was happy for him to score two goals, especially coming from the bench.
Because now he’s asking questions to Arteta, ‘Boss, I need to play the next game. You know, I scored two goals’. In his mind, he’s starting the next game, trust me.”
As the Bulgarian international says, Gyokeres will be hoping to start the Gunners’ next game away at Brentford during midweek.

Mikel Arteta has been speaking very highly of Gyokeres’ recent form for Arsenal, after making it eight goal contributions in his last eight games.
When the Spaniard was asked whether Gyokeres can now kick on at Arsenal, he told the media: “Yes, and I think the way he came in, but he was ready straight away.
“When he got the line-up, and he wasn’t in, everyone reacts in such a way, because we know, we have experienced it every three days, how important the finishers are, the impact that they are having on the team, the results and where we are at the moment. So, I’m very happy.”
