Arsenal have certainly had one or two ‘flair’ players over the years, those who aren’t afraid to express their individuality on the pitch.
Mesut Ozil’s name immediately springs to mind, someone who Arsene Wenger essentially gave a free role to at Arsenal.
Ozil thrived under Wenger’s trust, something that wasn’t necessarily the case under either Unai Emery or Mikel Arteta.
Neither manager was prepared to continue Wenger’s ‘exceptions’ towards Ozil, they wanted him to behave on par with the rest of his teammates.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also had some individuality about his game, he loved a trick and would often surprise opposition defenders.
But just like Ozil, Aubameyang’s time under Arteta ended rather abruptly.
Of course, that’s not to say that Arteta wouldn’t welcome a flair player in the right capacity.
Dimitar Berbatov says Kai Havertz floats in and out of games at Arsenal
That being said, Dimitar Berbatov put Kai Havertz in that category of ‘flair’ players whilst talking to FUTBIN recently.
Havertz was outstanding against Southampton just before the international break, a player who is becoming increasingly robust.

Alan Shearer recently celebrated Havertz’s work off the ball, however, Berbatov focused on a different side of the German’s game when praising him.
The former Tottenham and Manchester United striker saw a lot of himself in the way Havertz plays, drifting in and out of games, someone who ‘has that flair’.
Berbatov said: “I like Kai Havertz as a player. He has that flair, sometimes floating into the games and that’s why it reminds me a bit of myself.
“Although, I don’t like comparing players from different generations, but I like watching him, to be honest.”
Of course it is important to remember that Havertz has that side of his game, a technical false nine who has managed to develop into an all-action duel-winner.
Kai Havertz is leaving Gabriel Jesus behind at Arsenal
When recognising all the sides that Havertz now has to his game, a player who has improved so much under Arteta, it’s clear to see why Gabriel Jesus is struggling at Arsenal.
Jesus is a very accomplished player in his own right, a striker who could play for any of Europe’s top clubs.
However, the Brazilian is now looking rather one dimensional at the Emirates Stadium, a number nine who is excellent in the press but is unable to sufficiently link with his teammates.
Havertz, on the other hand, is able to score, link play and hold up the ball, explaining why Jesus now appears like such a downgrade.
A delicate situation for Arteta to handle, and one he’ll surely address by replacing the Brazilian next summer.
