Kieran Tierney was given an opportunity when Arsenal took on Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup.

Mikel Arteta made several changes to his side at the Emirates on Wednesday night. He made a few big calls too, but none were bigger than his decision to start the Scot.

Tierney started his first Arsenal game in 584 days. It was a big moment for him, and fans were really excited to see him back in action.

The former Celtic man had a very good game, and many of his teammates – past and present – are delighted to see him back in the famous red and white.

Tierney is still a fan favourite at Arsenal.

The Scot joined the club in the summer of 2019, when Unai Emery was still at the helm. He took a while to be ready, but he won everyone over from his very first appearance.

Tierney fell down the pecking order at Arsenal following Oleksandr Zinchenko’s arrival in 2022. He spent the whole of last season on loan and everyone expected his Gunners career to be over.

However, Arsenal’s issues at full-back opened the door for Tierney to return, and the Scotland international produced a very good performance against Crystal Palace.

The 27-year-old was solid at the back and offered himself in attack regularly. He was unlucky to not get an assist too – Raheem Sterling should’ve buried the chance Tierney created for him.

After the game, Tierney took to Instagram to celebrate the win and his return. A number of players showed him some love.

Emile Smith Rowe replied: “Love it bro!”

Did Kieran Tierney get injured again during Arsenal vs Crystal Palace?

Injuries have been really cruel to Tierney since he joined Arsenal.

The Scot has missed a total of 113 games for club and country since he made his Gunners debut back in the 2019/20 season.

Against Palace at the Emirates on Wednesday night, Tierney went down after 69 minutes. Arteta replaced him immediately – Myles Lewis-Skelly came on in his place.

Arsenal fans were worried about Tierney, fearing that he had suffered yet another injury. However, Arteta eased all the concerns in his post-match press conference.

“Cramp,” he said.
