Arsenal’s hunt for a new sporting director is still ongoing, with the club looking to take their time over making the right decision.
It comes after Edu Gaspar’s resignation from the club in early November, which took everyone by surprise at the time.
Since then, Arsenal have been searching for the next person who will be in charge of the transfer direction at the Emirates Stadium.
With plenty of work needed to improve the options at Mikel Arteta’s disposal, it appears as though there will be no appointment before the January transfer window.
However, that’s not to say there isn’t work being done behind the scenes to get a potential hire in through the doors soon.

Arsenal stance on Roberto Olabe as next sporting director
One name on the list as a potential sporting director option for Arsenal is Roberto Olabe, who recently left Real Sociedad.
Having had plenty of success in Spain, Olabe could be open to a new challenge with the Gunners over the coming months and years.
With him being an option on the market, transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the director is Arsenal’s “top target” to replace Edu Gaspar.
That is despite Olabe being linked with a move to Manchester United, following Dan Ashworth’s exit from the club.
It could see a tussle develop between the two giant clubs as they look to make a success of their backroom staff to show progress on the pitch.
While Olabe may well be a top target for Arsenal, he is far from the last name that has been rumoured with a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal next sporting director links
While Olabe is a target for Arsenal, there may be other names that could make a case for taking the job role of sporting director.
Jason Ayto could replace Edu as a director, with the assistant sporting director filling in during the absence of a full-time hire.
Having already worked within the club and its hierarchy, Ayto may well be an option that would require the least change.
He’s not the only one though, as Dan Ashworth has been linked with Arsenal as a potential option as well.
The former Brighton and Newcastle man was recently released by Manchester United after just five months in post at Old Trafford.
Whether it’s those mentioned or another candidate that takes the job, it remains to be seen, however, it’s clear that this is one that may take some time to get the right appointment.
