Arsenal have honoured a few of their legends with statues outside the Emirates Stadium.

Thierry Henry, Tony Adams, and Dennis Bergkamp all have their own statues, and they look incredible outside the Gunners’ home ground.

Arsenal fans have demanded an Ian Wright statue outside the Emirates next, and we think the Englishman completely deserves it.

However, Paul Merson wants another Arsenal icon to get the statue next – Patrick Vieira.

Who is Arsenal’s greatest player ever?

Vieira is one of the greatest players to wear the Arsenal shirt.

The Frenchman joined the Gunners from AC Milan in 1996, a few months before Arsene Wenger officially arrived to become the club’s new manager.

Vieira became one of the club’s most important players under his compatriot, and he went on to help the North Londoners win three Premier League titles and four FA Cups.

Arsenal supporters still adore the former midfielder, and he is often showered with love whenever he returns to the Emirates Stadium.

Paul Merson, who played with Vieira when he first arrived at Arsenal in 1996, rates him very highly and has now urged the Gunners to give him a statue outside their ground.

Speaking on a mini documentary released by Sky Sports, Merson said: “He should have a statue, in my opinion.

“You have Tony Adams, Henry and Bergkamp. People talk about them three; they should always talk about Patrick Vieira.”

Ian Wright should get a statue before Patrick Vieira

We are not going to disagree with Merson – Vieira definitely deserves a statue.

However, the next one on Arsenal’s list has to be Ian Wright, who is still the Gunners’ second-highest goalscorer.

Furthermore, the legendary Englishman is one of the few former players who publicly defend the club against pundits who try to create negativity.

Wright also works with Arsenal at times. He featured in the Eberechi Eze announcement video when he signed for the club from Crystal Palace in the summer.

There are a few great players who should get a statue at the Emirates, but nobody deserves it more than Wright.
