Arsenal face AC Milan in their opening game of the pre-season tour to Asia.

Mikel Arteta included new signing Christian Norgaard in his starting eleven and gave Ethan Nwaneri a chance to shine in his preferred number ten role.

Oleksandr Zinchenko also started the clash despite being linked with a move away from the club this summer.

Gabriel Magalhaes was not involved in the squad as he continues his recovery from his hamstring surgery, leaving William Saliba to partner Riccardo Calafiori at the back.

However, it was another returning partnership that had Arsenal fans off their seats during the first half display.

Arsenal fans impressed with Bukayo Saka and Ben White partnership

Arsenal’s best moments in the first half came down the right flank with Ben White and Bukayo Saka looking back to their best.

The pair formed a formidable partnership under Arteta before injuries disrupted both of their seasons, fans have now taken to X to voice their opinion over the return of the duo.

One fan stated: “Ben White x Saka right hand side is back. Beautiful sight to see.”

Another fan wrote: “Ben White line breakers to Bukayo Saka will never get old, completely outclass the last line of defence – always!”

One Arsenal supporter alluded to the fact that the Gunners missed having that penetration down the right flank in the 2024-25 campaign, they wrote: “Oh how we have missed that Ben White pass to set Saka free.”

Mikel Arteta knows Ben White brings greater attacking threat than Jurrien Timber

Arteta has an excellent problem to have next season in deciding whether White or Jurrien Timber will be his first choice right back.

There have been some reports of White’s Arsenal future being uncertain but his latest display will quickly rid any speculation as he proves he is going to be a key player yet again to the Gunners.

There could be a case for Arteta choosing his right back based on the opposition. Timber is one of the world’s best defenders in a one v one situation.

However, White has proven that he brings the best out of Saka in an attacking sense and has been known to contribute goals and assists himself.

Depending on the context of the game, Arteta could choose a more cautious approach with Timber or the more expansive option in the England international.
