Arsenal came close to European glory this season.

Mikel Arteta’s side reached the semi-final of the Champions League for the first time since 2009 and gave an excellent account of themselves against eventual winners PSG.

Andrea Berta is now tasked with finding the right players to help push Arsenal over the line in their quest for a major trophy next season and Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres are heavily linked.

Bayer Leverkusen were interested in Cesc Fabregas for their vacant managerial role before appointing Erik Ten Haag but it now appears Fabregas could be in line to face the Gunners next season after agreeing to join another Champions League rival.

Cesc Fabregas agrees to become Inter Milan manager

Simone Inzaghi departed Inter Milan following their Champions League final defeat to PSG and Fabregas is set to be his replacement at the San Siro.

According to French outlet FootMercato, Fabregas has an ‘agreement’ with Inter Milan to leave current Serie A side Como and join the Italian giants.

Inter have been impressed with Fabregas this season after he took Serie A debutants to a tenth-place finish and all that is missing now is an agreement in compensation between the two clubs.

Jack Wilshere is in contention for the Plymouth job and it appears that Arsene Wenger’s influence is once again strong on his former players as yet more success is enjoyed in management by former Arsenal players.

What Cesc Fabregas said about Mikel Arteta’s coaching principles

Fabregas is his own manager however, a visit to Arsenal back in 2023 allowed the Spaniard an insight into the principles and techniques of Arteta.

As per the Mirror, Fabregas learned a lot from the Gunners boss, he stated: “I always thought, ‘Okay, this coach has been important for me, this one not so much’, but it’s so much up to you to give courage and how you make your players believe that what you are asking them to do is the right thing to win games and play well.

“Definitely he [Mikel Arteta] has got that in him. He’s a big believer of motivational speeches, of giving courage to players and inspiring them in certain ways. And it works very well with these young players, so fair play to him and hopefully they keep doing well.”

Should Fabregas complete his move to Inter Milan, the prospect of meeting Arsenal in next season’s Champions League could loom over the 38-year-old.
