Arsenal are set to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals, and this will see some of the most in-form players in Europe play against each other.
Arsenal’s position at the top of the Premier League saw them blow teams away in style in recent weeks, and some of Mikel Arteta’s best stars are currently operating at a level above anyone else in Europe.
Bayern Munich have struggled domestically in relative terms this season, as they are well behind in the Bundesliga title race, but still pose a dangerous threat to Arsenal in the Champions League.
The tie will be fascinating for several reasons, and it will see some of Europe’s finest players share the pitch, as well as former Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane return to North London for the first time.
Arsenal and Bayern Munich stars place highly in form rankings
Stat site WhoScored have now released their list of the 10 most in-form players from across Europe’s top five leagues across the last six appearances, and a number of players from both teams appear.
Midfielder Jamal Musiala ranks at the very top, with nine goals and assists in his last six Bundesliga games, and the youngster, who is close friends with Arsenal starlet Mika Biereth, will be one to watch over the two legs.
Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka come between third and fifth place. Rice has been outstanding in both defensive and attacking situations, whilst Havertz is now settled in a centre-forward role, with six goals and assists in his last six Premier League appearances.
Saka has been sensational on the wing, and his remarkable output has seen him become one of the best wingers in the world.
Martin Odegaard ranks in seventh place, but this could easily be higher given his spectacular performances in leading Arsenal from the front.
Kane ranks just below in eighth, with a remarkable 10 goals and assists in his last six league games, and with 37 goals and 12 assists across all competitions this season, he is still one of Europe’s deadliest forwards.
Arsenal will have to be wary of the threat of Kane and Musiala across both Champions League quarter final legs, but they will face Bayern in the confidence that they too, have a team capable of performing at the highest level, which has not always been the case when the two sides have faced each other in the past.
