Arsenal’s 6-0 win over Sheffield United on Monday was one of their most comfortable, yet most impressive victories yet.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been outstanding in the Premier League in 2024, scoring 31 times in seven games, whilst conceding just three and remaining within touching distance of Manchester City and Liverpool.

Arsenal strolled to a 5-0 lead by halftime against Chris Wilder’s side, with the Sheffield United manager admitting that his side were powerless to stop Bukayo Saka from tearing them apart.

Captain Martin Odegaard opened the scoring early on with a shot powered into his usual bottom-right corner, before Saka forced an own goal from Jayden Bogle.

Gabriel Martinelli then added a third within the first 15 minutes, before Kai Havertz scored again to pile on more misery to the league’s bottom side.

Declan Rice got on the scoresheet just before halftime, and defender Ben White then made it six in the second half with the best goal of the game as he fired a weak-footed shot into the corner.

Arsenal broke several individual, club and league records with what was a memorable victory, and they will hope they can carry their momentum into the final few months of the season.

What records did Arsenal break against Sheffield United?

Bukayo Saka entered into the top ten Arsenal players for Premier League assists, with his pass for Rice’s goal meaning he reached 34 overall. Saka also became the first Premier League player since 2018 to register over 50 goals and 50 assists in all competitions.

Arsenal now have their most goals after 27 league games in any Premier League season, eclipsing the Invincibles by some distance.

This seven-game run has seen Arsenal score 31 goals, a new Premier League record, beating Manchester City’s centurion’s best run in this regard.

Arsenal now have five players with 10 or more goals and assists in all competitions, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli joining Saka, Rice and Martin Odegaard with their output at Bramall Lane.

David Raya kept a clean sheet, bringing his total to nine for the season, which is higher than any other goalkeeper in the league.

Havertz’s goal, the fourth of the game, was the 150,000th to be scored in the history of the English top-flight.

Arsenal were 5-0 up by halftime, the first time in Premier League history that they have managed such a feat away from home.

This also meant that they became the first team to win by five or more goals in three consecutive away games, after recent wins against West Ham and Burnley.

William Saliba completed 169 passes in the victory against Sheffield United, more than the hosts managed as a team combined, and the most by any player in any Premier League game for the Gunners.

Arsenal set a Premier League record when they scored twice or more in seven consecutive halves of football by the end of last week’s victory over Newcastle. They made that eight against Sheffield United, but ended the streak with just one goal in the second half.

Arsenal scored 11 times against Sheffield United this season, following a 5-0 win at the Emirates. This is the joint-most they have scored against any team in one campaign, alongside Derby County in 2007-08, and Everton in 2004-05.

Mikel Arteta also reached a landmark, as Martinelli’s goal, the third of the game, was the 300th scored under the Spaniard since he became manager in December 2019.
