Arsenal have confirmed the diagnosis of Gabriel Magalhaes’ injury after extensive tests.

During Arsenal’s 2-1 win against Fulham, the Gunners’ worst nightmare came true as Gabriel limped off with a hamstring injury

The Brazilian was sent for tests to determine the severity of the blow, giving Mikel Arteta a daunting wait for the outcome.

Arteta couldn’t hide his worry for Gabriel after the defender was hooked against Fulham, with a diagnosis and return date now confirmed.

Gabriel Magalhaes ruled out for the season with injury

The injury looked sinister as soon as it occurred, as Gabriel burst into a sprint and then pulled up, unable to walk.

Gabriel’s wife confirmed that he was having tests, which have now devastatingly concluded that the centre-back is out for the season.

In a statement, Arsenal wrote that Gabriel requires surgery to repair his hamstring.

It was then confirmed that the surgery will take place ‘in the coming days’, whereafter he will ‘immediately’ begin rehabilitation.

Arsenal confirmed the Brazilian’s return date as the start of next season, hoping that the 27-year-old will be fit in time for the 2025/26 campaign to commence.

It’s a third outcome of hamstring surgery for Arsenal this term, with Gabriel now following Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz in the treatment room.

Worst-case scenario for Gabriel

At first, the fear was that Gabriel would miss Arsenal’s clash with Real Madrid, a wish that seems rather petulant now that the diagnosis is out.

The Brazil international will miss the remainder of this season and the summer, as he aims to return as soon as possible once his surgery is complete.

Gabriel is so important to Arsenal, as his win rate reveals, leaving Arteta with yet another punishing blow on the injury front to tend to.

Everyone wishes Gabriel the best on his road to recovery, in what is a desperately difficult time for the Gunners.
