Arsenal are awaiting the results of tests on Gabriel Magalhaes’ hamstring after the defender picked up an injury.
Just as Arsenal were handed an injury boost as Bukayo Saka returned after weeks away, Mikel Arteta was hit with another sizeable blow.
Only 15 minutes into Arsenal’s win over Fulham, defender Gabriel went down clutching his hamstring, resulting in the Brazilian being hooked.
Arteta expressed his concern about Gabriel when assessing his injury after the game, with all eyes on Real Madrid.

Gabriel Magalhaes’ wife confirms injury
Arsenal face Everton on Saturday afternoon and are then in action against Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
Gabriel’s fitness will be paramount to the two fixtures, particularly the latter, as the European champions boast one of the best attacks in the world.
The Gunners are waiting to learn the verdict of the defender’s scans, but the extent of the Brazilian’s injury has been hinted at by a figure closer to him than most.
Speaking to the Daily Mail at Amazon Prime’s premiere of Married To The Game, Gabriel’s wife, Gabrielle Figueiredo, confirmed that the Arsenal star missed the event due to his injury.
“It’s difficult, I think the perfect example is now, because he got injured yesterday,” Figueiredo said.
“So that is why he’s not here with me today. He would love to be here. I would love to be here with him.”
Gabriel’s wife then confirmed that the 27-year-old has been with a doctor and is undergoing tests, opening up about the challenging reality of professional football.
“Yesterday we got the news he got injured, and now he is with the doctor having scans. So this is the real life, and we were never expected to anything like this.”
Gabriel’s injury record at Arsenal
It’s hoped that the extent of Gabriel’s injury will be known in the coming days, as the defender headed straight down the tunnel to commence investigations.
Arteta spoke about losing his defender after the game against Fulham, suggesting that he knew it was bad as the Brazil international never wants to leave the pitch.
“They are two players in this team that never want to come off. Gabi felt something in his hamstring, we don’t know how big that is,” Arteta said of Gabriel and Jurrien Timber.
| Season | Injury | Days out | Games missed |
| 2024/25 | Knee | 13 | 3 |
| 2024/25 | Knee | 6 | 2 |
| 2021/22 | Knee | 51 | 4 |
| 2020/21 | Coronavirus | 19 | 4 |
The Arsenal manager’s words are emphasised by Gabriel’s injury record since joining the Gunners in 2020, missing only 13 games in almost five years.
Before the 2024/25 season commenced, you’d have to go back to 2021 to recall the last time the Brazilian missed a game due to injury, which speaks volumes.
Arsenal fans will hope for the best when it comes to learning Gabriel’s recovery timeframe, in what is set to be a daunting wait for those at Colney.
