Arsenal are beyond thrilled to have agreed a deal with Myles Lewis-Skelly to extend his contract, Arsenal Insider understands.

The teenager is one of the best young players in the world, and the way he adapted to the senior game last season was nothing short of remarkable.

Arsenal have an agreement with Lewis-Skelly over a new contract, and an official announcement about the same is expected in the coming days.

How Arsenal felt about Real Madrid’s interest in Myles Lewis-Skelly

Myles Lewis-Skelly became a star at Arsenal last season.

The Englishman was only expected to make a few appearances in the cups as a squad player, but his performances changed Mikel Arteta’s mind.

Lewis-Skelly became one of Arsenal’s best players, and he quickly established himself as the Gunners’ first-choice left-back ahead of bigger names like Riccardo Calafiori and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

With his contract expiring in 2026, there were a few concerns, especially when reports claimed that Real Madrid wanted to sign Lewis-Skelly.

However, TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, has exclusively revealed to Arsenal Insider that the Gunners weren’t a tad bit bothered by those links.

“Arsenal are really pleased with how the Lewis-Skelly talks have gone in recent weeks,” Bailey said.

“The club did not pay any attention to the claims about Real Madrid and others looking at him; they knew and believed the player was fully committed to going forward with Arsenal.

Arsenal are delighted with his progress, but also his demeanour in and around the squad – he really is the shining light of Hale End, along with Ethan Nwaneri, who they hope will soon follow him.

“This deal is a big one, it really highlights just how highly Arsenal regard LewIs-Skelly and I am told the player is really pleased with it.”

Arsenal break 19-year club record with new Myles Lewis-Skelly contract

Lewis-Skelly’s new deal gives him a big pay rise.

The teenager was only on £4,000 a week on his last contract (Goal), but this new deal makes him one of the best-paid young players in the world.

Bailey revealed on TBR Football that Arsenal broke a 19-year club record with Lewis-Skelly’s new deal – his terms are better than the one Cesc Fabregas was offered nearly two decades ago.

“This is the biggest deal the club have ever handed to a teenager, surpassing the contract signed by Cesc Fabregas back in 2006,” Bailey revealed.

It remains to be seen whether Ethan Nwaneri will be offered similar or better terms, as Arsenal continue to work on tying him down to a new deal.
