The Premier League title race is slowly drifting away from Arsenal as their hopes of pipping Liverpool to the trophy are fading.

The Gunners are 11 points adrift from their rivals at the top, following another damning weekend of action for Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal lost to West Ham, while Liverpool beating Manchester City turned the tables on the north London outfit once more.

While Arteta’s side hold a game in hand, it will require a perfect run and some big slip-ups from the Merseyside team to swing the race back around.

There are still plenty of points up for grabs though, so with that said, here’s a look at how many points Arsenal can still reach in the Premier League title race.

How many points can Arsenal still get in the Premier League title race?

Arsenal currently sit second in the Premier League with 53 points – 11 behind rivals Liverpool but with one game in hand over them.

With 12 games left for the Gunners to play, they can pick up a maximum of 36 points before the end of the season.

That would take them to 89 points if they manage such a run, which would be enough to win 14 Premier League titles since the introduction of a 38-game season.

Four teams have hit 89 points and won the league title, but there have been plenty of higher tallies that haven’t won it – which both Liverpool and Arsenal know well from recent seasons.

As for Liverpool, their tally can still hit a number that the Gunners cannot usurp in the Premier League.

How many points do Liverpool need to win the Premier League title?

With 11 games left for Liverpool, there are 33 points available to them with an 11-point lead taking them into the next run of fixtures.

The 90-point mark will take the Reds over the line, regardless of what Arsenal manage to do, meaning 26 points will do the job for them.

That is eight wins and two draws from their remaining 11 matches – meaning a defeat or two may not be that costly after all.

When is the earliest Liverpool can win the Premier League title?

Assuming the worst happens for Arsenal and they continue to lose games while Liverpool win, a title clincher may come sooner than some expected.

If that were to happen, Liverpool could win the title in the next five games, which would be against West Ham on April 12.

With Arsenal keen to hunt the Reds down, it seems unlikely such a huge swing will happen in that direction, but it is the earliest it could be sealed.
