Arsenal are looking to sign Bruno Guimaraes this summer and if they do, it seems Gabriel Martinelli will be a happy chap.

Martinelli is already among a strong Brazilian contingent at The Emirates and the idea of adding another international teammate will no doubt excite him.

Of course, Martinelli’s own future with Arsenal is in doubt but in terms of the position Guimaraes plays, it is not a direct threat to Martinelli’s place in the squad.

Indeed, looking back at old comments from Martinelli about Guimaraes, it seems he’d be more than happy to have the Newcastle man onboard.

Gabriel Martinelli has already said he loves Bruno Guimaraes

Martinelli would more than welcome another Brazilian at the club.

He already has Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Magalhaes alongside him and the idea of adding a fourth top Brazilian would no doubt boost that trio.

Indeed, speaking to Sky Sports previously, Martinelli has already professed his admiration of Guimaraes.

“I love this boy. He’s so good on the ball, so important for the team. He was with me in the Olympic Games, as well,” Martinelli said back in 2023.

“For me, he’s one of the best midfielders in the world. He’s a very good guy, as well.”

What Bruno Guimaraes has said about Declan Rice after being linked with Arsenal

Naturally, we’re going to see comments from the Brazilian contingent about each other.

But more interestingly for Arsenal fans is the notion of seeing a midfield partnership of Guimaraes and Declan Rice.

Indeed, Guimaraes himself has already sung the praises of Rice.

“I would put Rice at second,” Guimaraes said when ranking the best midfielders in the league back in 2025.

“I think Rice is a player who can defend, who can attack, who can score, who can tackle – he can do everything on the pitch. He’s a top player.”

Clearly, this is a partnership in midfield that can do wonders for the Gunners. If he does sign, then title number two can be firmly put in sight.
