Arsenal fans will be basking in the glory of opening their Premier League account for the season with a gritty 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.
Mikel Arteta has now achieved half of Arsenal’s six Premier League victories at the home of Manchester United.
Riccardo Calafiori scored the only goal of the game and was a real positive from the match with his driving runs and decisiveness from left back.
Three points are never easy in the league, especially at the home of a rejuvenated Man Utd side littered with Ruben Amorim’s new acquisitions. However, there is one thing that club legend Ian Wright cannot understand after the victory.

Ian Wright ‘cannot understand’ negativity around Arsenal after Manchester United victory
Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Arseblog Arsecast’ podcast, the Arsenal legend has expressed his disbelief surrounding the club following their opening day victory.
The Gunners were not at their best but still managed to find a way to grind out the three points and Wright believes this should be a positive aspect for the side.
Wright stated: “If Arsenal had Bournemouth or Wolves in their first game, I would have been a lot more comfortable than I would have been going to Man Utd even though it’s this Man Utd team.
“So again, I just look back and I think to myself, yes, for everything that entails for us that we are trying to do this season, go into Man Utd and not playing anywhere near like we know we can,
“but look at our bench as well. Not playing no where near we can and getting a 1-0 win. And the discourse, I cannot, I can’t understand it, Andrew. I can’t understand it.”
Wright has messaged Viktor Gyokeres to send his support to the striker after the Swede received criticism for his performance in the game.
However, the job was done for Arteta’s side, it may not have been pretty but the first win is on the board and they can only get better from what they produced in Manchester.
What Mikel Arteta will want Arsenal to improve on against Leeds United
Arsenal fans were critical of Noni Madueke for his display against the Red Devils but he was by no means the only player in a red and white to fall short of the standards.
Arteta will be looking for his team to show far more composure on the ball than was evident at Old Trafford and his side were uncharacteristically bullied in many of the physical battles.
It will be a different test for the Gunners in the next clash at home to Leeds, who will likely surrender possession and try to be hard to beat.
These are the games that Arsenal struggled in last season and all eyes will be on the likes of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard to provide chances for Gyokeres.
There is hope that the Swede will be the difference in these types of games this season and help the Gunners turn 14 draws last season into more victories.
