Arsenal have a number of players at this summer’s World Cup and Ian Wright has backed one key man to be a huge success on an individual basis.

The likes of Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Viktor Gyokeres, Gabriel Magalhaes and more are all involved with their national teams.

Of course, one man we haven’t mentioned there is star goalkeeper and key Gunners man, David Raya.

Raya will go into the tournament with Spain as one of the favourites to win the whole thing and naturally, him keeping clean-sheets will help massively.

Indeed, on that note, Ian Wright believes it will be Raya who comes out on top in the race for the Golden Glove.

🏆 Which Arsenal star will go the furthest at this summer’s World Cup?

Zubimendi and Spain? Saka and England? Saliba and France?

Ian Wright backs David Raya to win the World Cup’s golden glove

David Raya has arguably been the best goalkeeper in Europe in the last few years and with three Premier League golden gloves in a row, the stats back that up as well.

Nevertheless, a World Cup is a different kettle of fish and Raya will need to be at his very very best without his usual Arsenal backline in front.

However, picking his star players of the tournament ahead of kickoff last night, Gunners legend Ian Wright put his backing behind Raya.

Doing his picks, Wright opted for Raya for the golden glove and with that, backed Spain to be among the main contenders to win as well.

Raya will need to produce some of his best form to match the very best in history in terms of shutouts at a World Cup.

Indeed, Spanish legend Iker Casillas is among a group of goalkeepers to hold the joint record of keeping five clean-sheets in a single tournament.

With one more round of games this year and more teams than ever, there is a chance for Raya to outdo that number.

If he does, he’ll join Casillas, Gianluigi Buffon, Fabian Barthez, Claudio Taffarel, and Walter Zenga in being the stoppers to keep five in one tournament.
