Ian Wright thinks Arsenal star will be fuming with what’s been said about him recently

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has now admitted that he thinks one player will be fuming with some recent comments made about his ability.

Mikel Arteta’s side are now in an incredibly strong position in the league, and it seems as if defeat in Portugal didn’t dent their confidence one bit.

Martin Odegaard led Arsenal’s pressing fantastically on Saturday evening, inspiring one of the best first half performances of the season.

Of course, if Arsenal are winning well, Bukayo Saka will always be playing a big part.

And although any conversation about Saka right now should just be in regards to how well he’s playing, reaction to Rio Ferdinand’s recent comments saying Saka isn’t ‘world class’ has been very loud.

Moreover, when speaking on the ‘Wrighty’s House’ podcast, Ian Wright wasn’t too happy with Ferdinand’s decision to share those thoughts.

Wright thought Ferdinand had brought unnecessary scrutiny to Saka at Arsenal, and thought the player must be fuming too.

Speaking on the podcast, Wright just thought the comments were just so unneeded.

He said: “You know the whole thing about it, when Rio said it, it feels very clickbait-y, very banal.

“It’s so subjective. It’s just one of those, it’s just about clicks in saying something like that.

“Because I can’t imagine what Bukayo would have gone through, because let me tell you something for a fact that will happen, he will have seen it, he will have heard it and they will have had to deal with it.

“If I’m him, I’m probably a little bit p—-d off about that. And I’d probably be a bit p—-d off with Rio about it for bringing it up like it is because it’s the narrative of everything, especially when you listen to TNT.

“And so, it’s something now, I’d be very interested to see his relationship going on with Rio, who for me, let’s face it, one of the most decorated players, to come with that kind of conversation does not help.

“It doesn’t help. In that particular situation, I was very disappointed with that because it’s not needed.”

Let them talk

Of course, both Wright and Saka will be very content with how things are going internally at Arsenal.

And even if Ferdinand is causing a lot of noise with his comments, a player who now has 13 goals in 25 league games probably won’t be too concerned.

Saka is having a remarkable season at the Emirates, and doesn’t need validation from anyone.

And with Saka’s goal on Saturday considered, Arsenal broke an astonishing Premier League record this weekend.
