Ian Wright: Why Man City ‘won’t care’ after seeing Arsenal beat Newcastle today

A huge three points for Arsenal in the Premier League against Newcastle has put the ball back in Manchester City’s court in the title race.

City won at Wembley to set up another FA Cup final but could only look on from afar as the Gunners beat Newcastle 1-0 to go back to the top of the table.

It means City now have to win again to topple the Gunners. It could be a shift in terms of mentality, with City knowing nothing but a win will do.

However, according to Ian Wright, this current City team and manager will not be panicking one bit.

Ian Wright claims Man City won’t care how many games they need to win

As we keep hearing from everyone, this Man City team knows how to win. It’s that simple.

That’s why they’ve clawed their way back into the race while Arsenal have dipped and we are now set for a blockbuster finish.

Indeed, according to Ian Wright, City will not be bothered by Arsenal at all.

“City know have to navigate this, regardless of playing the FA Cup,” Wright said.

“This is the Premier League. I’m not sure Man City will care how many games they have to play [in other competitions] to be able to do it. We’re talking about a team who’ve been able to do it four times on the spin.

“They’ll be chasing Arsenal down regardless of how the fixtures pan out.”

Arsenal will want a favour from Everton

Realistically, it is this week where it might be make or break for Man City.

They go to Everton away at the weekend for Monday Night Football before facing Brentford at The Etihad on the Saturday after.

With Arsenal in action before City take on Everton, there is a chance that the Gunners could be six points clear of their rivals come kick-off.

That increases the pressure and as we all know, Everton can be a tough place to visit, albeit it’s not quite as anxious as the Goodison Park days for many.

Still, David Moyes will be desperate to win. He knows how to set his teams up to both win and be difficult to beat. In the remaining fixtures, this is the game Arsenal fans will be clinging to for a City slip up.

If not, then it could be plain sailing all the way for Pep’s men.
