During his time at Arsenal, Thierry Henry went on to become one of the best forward players the world has ever seen.
The Frenchman caused all sorts of problems for defenders on the left flank, helping fire the Gunners towards several trophies and titles.
For that reason, Thierry Henry is always remembered as an Arsenal legend, but he isn’t the only one from that era.
There are plenty of memorable names and faces, not least from The Invincibles team of 2003/04, which has some of the best Arsenal have to offer.
Amongst those is a star that Henry looked up to and has lavished praise on once again.

Thierry Henry outlines praise for Arsenal teammate Dennis Bergkamp
Before Henry, there was Dennis Bergkamp at Arsenal, with the Dutch forward becoming an instant hit after his move from Inter Milan in 1995.
In an 11-year period, he played over 300 games for the Gunners, with goals and assists flying in whenever he played.
Henry has previously revealed his thoughts on Bergkamp, claiming he was a “dream for a striker”, but he continued that in a recent appearance on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.
Discussing his old teammate, he said: “This is the guy [Bergkamp] at one point with the likes of Patrick Vieira, they arrived a bit before, where people were like ‘Hang on a minute, we can win again’ and with the way we was doing it.
“Obviously with the understanding that I had with him, it was just like we could find each other without even looking at each other.”
When asked if Bergkamp should be higher on the list of best forwards in history, Henry said: “I cannot be objective when I talk about Dennis Bergkamp because this was the guy that set the tone for me when I arrived at Arsenal.
“When I used to arrive at eight [am] in the dressing room, the guy is in at 7:30 [am] or if others arrive at 7:30 [am], he arrives at 7:29 [am].
“Then if I’m coming to hit [the football], he’s there to hit it before me. I’m taking free-kicks, he’d finished taking free-kicks.
“I’m like, ‘Is this guy for real?’. So I’ll always have the utmost respect for guys like that because he showed me the way.”
It shows just how impressive Bergkamp was in his time at Arsenal, leading to his statue outside of the Emirates Stadium.

How good was Dennis Bergkamp?
Following on from his career, it’s fair to say that Dennis Bergkamp has been regarded as one of the best forwards to grace the Premier League.
The Netherlands international only played for three clubs in his career, featuring for Ajax, Inter Milan and Arsenal.
He went on to win 12 major trophies at the club level, while he was consistently put forward for individual awards each year.
| Team | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Ajax | 238 | 122 | 23 |
| Inter Milan | 72 | 22 | 12 |
| Arsenal | 422 | 120 | 115 |
The stats show a transformation for Berkamp over the years too, where he’s moved from a winger to a striker and then eventually more of a second striker.
While goals were a feature of his game, they were slowly turned into more assists for teammates.
His legacy still lives on at Arsenal, outlining just how good he was in his time at the club.
