Arsenal dropped yet more points in the title race at Brighton following a 1-1 draw to leave the Gunners trailing leaders Liverpool by six points having played a game more.

The result was Arsenal’s seventh draw of the season and despite an early Ethan Nwaneri opener, the Gunners failed to cease the initiative and allowed the points to slip when Brighton were awarded a controversial penalty.

Ex-referee Dermot Gallagher has explained the VAR decision to award the penalty for a foul on Joao Pedro by William Saliba but the incident has left a bitter taste in Mikel Arteta’s mouth and his side a mountain to climb in the title race.

Arteta was left frustrated at the penalty decision but also with the realisation that his side’s title aspirations are fading fast with Nottingham Forest also moving level on points with the Gunners.

Jamie Carragher reveals what Arsenal must do to win the Premier League

Speaking on Sky Sports Monday Night Football post-match coverage, former Liverpool defender and Sky pundit Jamie Carragher was asked whether he thought Arsenal could still win the Premier League this season.

Carragher stated: “Right now from what I’ve seen no. But what I would say is that there was a big improvement from Arsenal at a similar stage this time last season.”

The pundit then went on to explain what Arsenal needed to do this season: “Out of the last 18 games last season, I think they won 16, drew one and lost one. I think they would have to go on a similar sort of run but they have shown that they have been capable of it before.”

Arsenal are currently on a 13-game unbeaten run in all competitions but have dropped points in four of those games, which has left them still trailing rivals Liverpool in the title race.

David Raya reveals Arsenal’s aim for the rest of the season

Chasing down Liverpool will be a tall order for the Gunners however, the away fixtures of Arsenal and Arne Slot’s side suggest the title could still be won.

Goalkeeper David Raya has also been having his say on what Arsenal need to do in order to claim their first title since 2004 and he simply believes, ‘The aim is to win every single game.’

Arsenal’s goalkeeper has been in fine form for his side this season keeping seven clean sheets in his 20 Premier League appearances, including Raya’s ludicrous moment against Manchester United.

Whether Arsenal can chase down Liverpool remains to be seen but it seems that the manager and players know what needs to be done on the pitch in order to deliver silverware this season.
