Arsenal are expected to strengthen their attack in the summer transfer window as they look to take the next step under Mikel Arteta.

Andrea Berta is said to be targeting upgrades out wide, in midfield and at right-back, and all three areas could do with improvement.

One of the names now being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium is Paris Saint-Germain superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

That potential deal has caught the attention of Joe Cole, who is clearly impressed by the idea.

Joe Cole reacts to Arsenal’s interest in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Kvaratskhelia is widely regarded as one of the best wingers in world football and is good enough to play for any club.

Arsenal’s reported interest in the Georgian is really exciting for fans and highlights their ambition to strengthen their attack.

The 23-year-old would represent a clear improvement on both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank. The Arsenal wingers are good, but they just haven’t been consistent enough.

That is why Arsenal’s desire to sign Kvaratskhelia has generated excitement, not just among fans but also among pundits.

Cole believes the Gunners are already close to something special, and if they add the PSG star to their squad, they could go on to dominate the game.

He said on The Dressing Room Podcast: “I think the way that club’s set up is they’re on the cusp of it. And you think if they win one trophy (they’ll win many more).

“And even already, they’re planning for next year, you hear them talking about trying to buy Kvaratskhelia from PSG. Imagine putting him in that Arsenal team at £60 million.

“Then you’re looking at that thinking, I’m thinking, Man City have got to go again. Chelsea, forget about Chelsea at the moment. Villa are nowhere near that.”

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia must be Arsenal’s priority over Julian Alvarez

Alongside Kvaratskhelia, Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Julian Alvarez this summer, and he would be an outstanding addition to the squad.

Ideally, Mikel Arteta would bring in both players to take his attack to a whole new level, but that is not as easy as it sounds because of the finances involved.

If Arsenal get to a position where they can only sign one of Alvarez or Kvaratskhelia, we think it should be the PSG star all day long.

The Gunners need a genuine difference-maker on the left wing, and the Georgia international fits that profile perfectly.

Alvarez would improve the team, but Kvaratskhelia has the ability to transform it. That could help Arsenal become even better in the coming seasons.
