Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton clashed with Max Dowman during Arsenal’s pre-season win over the Magpies.
Arsenal beat Newcastle 3-2 to conclude their pre-season action in Singapore before moving on to Hong Kong.
It was a lively fixture between the two sides, with the intensity rising once Dowman was introduced with half an hour to play.
Arsenal fans were in awe of Dowman’s performance, as the 15-year-old showed his fearless edge, but the teenager’s cameo didn’t come without drama.

Joelinton speaks out about Max Dowman
Shortly after being introduced, Dowman got the better of Joelinton, with the Brazilian leaving an arm in the challenge, causing the academy star’s nose to bleed.
Some of the Arsenal squad were clearly unhappy with Joelinton’s challenge, but Dowman simply brushed himself off and continued to cause chaos.
It’s fair to say that the 28-year-old Newcastle ace was glad to see the back of Dowman once the game had ended, as the teenager won a penalty after being chased down in the box.
After the game, Joelinton was asked about facing Mikel Arteta’s rising star and made a prediction about the 2009-born player.
“He’s a really good player with a bright future in front of him,” Joelinton told Stadium Astro.
“I wish him all the best,” he concluded, sharing some positive words about Dowman after the teen put him through his paces.

Coming up against Premier League opposition and doing what he did was a real statement of intent from Dowman.
Though the game was played in a pre-season environment, Arteta got a glimpse of the youngster’s strength and skill against one of the league’s toughest opponents.
The only way is up for Dowman, who excelled last season in the academy, playing way beyond his years with the U18s and even the U21s.
Dowman contributed to 24 goals in 23 academy appearances last term, saying all that needs to be known about his prowess in the final third.
