Journalist can’t believe what he’s now hearing about Arsenal star Bukayo Saka

Journalist Charles Watts has been shocked by the response from some Arsenal fans to a recent image of Bukayo Saka.

Along with the rest of the Arsenal first-team squad, Bukayo Saka is currently in Dubai.

Mikel Arteta has taken his players there for a mid-season training camp, with the Gunners not due to be back in action on the pitch until they take on Crystal Palace in a Premier League clash on January 20th.

Arsenal need to take this opportunity to reset, and process the disappointment of recent defeats out of their system. The north London club have lost their last three games on the spin, coming unstuck against both West Ham United and Fulham in the Premier League, and getting dumped out of the FA Cup at the hands of Liverpool.

Arteta also needs to use this time to somehow breathe new confidence into his attacking contingent. Arsenal have been far too wasteful in front of goal in recent weeks. They could have secured positive results against both West Ham and Liverpool had they been able to take but a few of the many presentable goalscoring opportunities that they created against both sides.

The likes of Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, and Martin Odegaard, amongst others, have all been guilty of spurning chances. They now need to recharge their batteries and rediscover their clinical edge as a group.

In the meantime, the Gunners are clearly on the hunt for a new striker, and have already seen their initial approach to sign Borja Mayoral knocked back.

Charles Watts reacts to Arsenal fan criticism of Bukayo Saka

Arteta won’t be overworking his players at this time whilst they are in Dubai. It is a long, gruelling season, and respite is a rare luxury which needs to be enjoyed when the schedule allows for it.

As such, Charles Watts has taken issue with some fans who has apparently offered a negative response to an image of Saka relaxing in Dubai. The reporter said on X, “I genuinely can’t get my head around people being upset by a picture of Bukayo Saka relaxing in Dubai. That is literally all I want to see him doing for the next week.”

Fan frustration is understandable, as recent results have left a bitter taste in the mouth. However, whilst ground has undeniably been lost in the title race, good reason for optimism remains and supporters should still believe that this side can achieve something special this season.

For now, though, Saka is doing the right thing in getting some rest. He plays practically every available minute for Arsenal and Arteta will need him to be fit and firing on all cylinders for the rest of the campaign.
